Key Ingredients for the Kitchen
A kitchen is the one room in your home that can’t just look good, it has to work efficiently, too. You want all the tools that make your work easier, and you want to have them within easy reach. When I design a kitchen for my clients, there are some must-have details that I know will make their kitchen as functional as possible, and will make my clients happy, too. Let’s take a look.
Custom Cabinetry
Once I determine how my clients like to use their kitchen, I design custom cabinetry for specialty storage and to put important items within easy reach. In the kitchen above, a client who loves to cook has two pull-out cabinets that store spices and her most frequently-used ingredients. No running around the kitchen to find what she wants - it’s all right there where she needs it.
Pot Filler
This is one of those things that you don’t know you need until you have one. It is a lifesaver if you carry full pots of water from the sink. They can be so heavy! This plumbing solution makes a cook so much more efficient and prevents spills and accidents. And another great hint? You can also plumb a water filler near your coffee pot, too.
Extra Refrigeration
One of the top reasons that your refrigerator is opened over and over again is because family members are reaching in for a soda or a drink. I love to suggest extra refrigeration in a kitchen to keep little ones out of the way when they need a juice box or to store wine at the perfect temperature. Options include refrigerator drawers, bar-size refrigerators, or wine refrigerators that regulate the temperature for each varietal.
The Right Range
There are so many gorgeous ranges available today that you can always find one that fits what you and your family need. This one from Viking offers a lot of cooking surface, a drop-in cutting board, a grill, and a griddle. It’s ready for whatever my client wants to prepare.
Prep Sink
This tiny little addition can make a big difference in the kitchen. A prep sink on the island (with a disposal) allows you to chop and slice veggies and fruits, and sweep the peels and extras into the sink and out of the way. Your full sink can be used for dirty dishes, quick wash-ups, and soaking pans, while this sink can be specifically for food prep and filling glasses. That’s a smart way to avoid transferring germs, too.
There are so many other great additions and ideas that can make your kitchen into a well-oiled machine for you and your family. Give my team a call and let’s talk about how we can upgrade your kitchen today.
All the best,
Kara
