Working with 'Great Bones'

I work with clients on projects that range from new construction to redecorating an existing home. All of those projects are exciting, but I really enjoy working on homes with “good bones.” Maybe it’s because I also live in an historic home, but houses that have great architecture are exciting to reimagine and reconfigure. And 2021 has started off with one of these amazing projects for me and my team!

For our first presentation of the year, we were tasked to update a classic Tudor in Charlotte’s historic Myers Park neighborhood. The home has some fantastic features that we’ll complement with new furniture and accessories to update the look. I’m especially excited about the spacious living area you see above.

In a home like this one, it’s key that we select furnishings that work with the historic look of the home. I love transitional pieces for this type of project. They have classic details but are updated to have a sleeker and more modern look. They also blend well with more traditional pieces if a client has antiques or heirlooms that they also want to use.

Large rooms in this project also allow me to add more modern functionality, like a home office, a game table, and more.

These “great bones” projects are so interesting and fun - they really showcase how much you can change a home’s look with just new paint and furnishings. And they allow us to make a big impact without a lot of construction.

Give my team a call to see if we can help you reimagine what your home can be!

All the best,

Kara
