Creating Cozy Rooms for Fall
Those crisp nights of fall are finally here, and the cooler days won’t be far behind. I love to create cozy spaces in a house for my clients. They’re perfect for fall and winter, but they also provide comfort and a sense of peace in your home. I have 4 go-to ideas that help make any room just a bit cozier - let’s take a look.
The Importance of Texture
Humans are tactile beings - we love soft clothing and cuddly textiles. So the most important thing to have in a cozy room is lots of texture. The faux fur pillows above are absolutely irresistible, no one can resist touching them. That makes them perfect for snuggling. Soft throws, comfortable sheets, and a fluffy duvet also create a soft cocoon of warmth in any bedroom.
Deep Seating
To create that cozy feeling, there’s nothing better than deep seating. I like using a chair-and-a-half as a perfect perch for fall evenings. Plush upholstery and deep tufting will also surround and envelop you, giving you that sense of warmth and comfort.
Accessorize with Warmth
In the keeping room I created above, all of the accessories were designed with comfort in mind. The throw and pillows are perfect for snuggling in for the night. The drapery can be closed against a cold draft, but still allow light in for those darker days. And the ottoman can be used for a warm cup of tea or to rest your feet at the end of a long day.
Lighten Up
Speaking of those darker days, it’s important to have the right light for your cozy spaces. That doesn’t mean you should have super-bright overhead lights. You want to create a pool of soft light that offers a quiet and contemplative mood. But it should be bright enough for reading or other tasks.
Try these ideas to help you hibernate at home during the fall and winter months. And if you are planning a major home overhaul to get your home ready for a spring renewal, give my team a call!
All the best,
