How We Are Social Distancing

A NOTE FROM KARA

What a long, strange week it’s been. Whoever would have imagined ourselves amid a global pandemic just a few weeks ago when business was booming and the economy was buzzing along?
 
I’ve struggled this past week with knowing how to connect with my clients, friends and supporters of Kara Cox Interiors. I remain sensitive to everyone’s uncertainty- financially, medically and emotionally, including my own family. What I do know, is that first and foremost I am a people person. When asked why I love interior design, my answer is usually because I love helping people make beautiful homes. Not that I don’t love the pure creative side of design, but my true love is helping people. The relationships I build with clients, vendors and fellow trades in this industry are what drive me to be the best at providing excellent service and quality of work.
 
Being disconnected from my people during the events of the Covid-19 epidemic has been hard! I miss seeing clients’ faces, petting your dogs, laughing with your kids and being in connection with you. I hope you are finding your homes a place of sanctuary and peace during this tumultuous time.
 
Our office is currently closed for face to face meetings, but we are working from home on current projects to keep clients moving forward. We are continuing to support seamstresses, upholsterers, local manufacturers and craftsmen with your orders. We are using any downtime to reflect on how we can bring you the best possible service and experience as soon as our doors re-open and supply chains start moving. We’re reviewing procedures and updating our spec sheets so that every step of our design process is as clear and efficient as possible. Look for new ways we’ll be connecting with our clients via social media from video tutorials to fun behind the scenes looks at my personal lifestyle and home, (I promise, no homeschooling tips here, not my strength).
 
And yes, we are still taking on new projects. In our technology-filled day and age, we are able to do so much of our design work and sourcing virtually and we are happy to help if you have a project for us to tackle now. We’re removing our minimum project fees and furnishings expenditures for the next 30 days and are taking on projects of all sizes and shapes. Need a quick refresh of your teenager’s bedroom? We can tackle it with online sourcing and you can implement the plans yourself. Let us host a virtual design consultation to solve your home office organization. Want to hang a gallery wall in your free time? We can assist you with framing selections, layout and our favorite tips and tricks for you to accomplish some of your home to-do lists with our expert guidance.
 
One thing I love as a small business owner is being able to give back locally. The first organization I donated to when the school closure was announced was Backpack Beginnings, a local organization in Greensboro that provides meals for food-insecure children in Guilford County Schools. As a public-school parent, knowing that children are receiving the services they need during this time is a priority for me. I will continue to donate 10% of my profit to Backpack Beginnings until schools reopen May 15th.  Know that your projects are helping KCI give back to our community during this difficult time.
 
In the meantime, take care of yourselves and your families. Find sanctuary in your homes. Add small luxuries- light a candle, buy fresh flowers, re-frame a favorite photo for your desk, and please let me know if there is anything we can do to make this time easier for you.
